Restorations

A silver filling with decay around the margins on one tooth and a simple cavity on the other molar. Both teeth were prepared and tooth colored bonded restorations were placed.

First tooth teeth had older fillings with decay at margins, last tooth also had an existing older silver filling with decay. The greyish shadowing on the last tooth represents decay below the enamal creating an undermined tooth structure that is at a high risk for fracturing.

First two teeth were able to be restored with tooth colored bonded fillings. The last tooth needed a lab made porcelain onlay due to the amount of tooth structure loss after removing older filling and decay. The picture above shows the temporary onlay that the patient will have until the restoration returns from the lab.

Tooth had a large existing older silver restoration with decay at margins. There was a food trap present between the silver filling and tooth behind due to an open contact.

Due to the amount of tooth structure loss the tooth needed a lab made 3/4 crown. As is evident in the second picture the contact has been closed creating a much healthier gum tissue in that area.
